How to play You're interested in playing Mah Jong, but where do you start? Unlike Monopoly or Chess there is not one universal rule set for Mah Jong. Many areas, or countries have their own variation or rule set. Rules The Rules page gives an overview of various rules, and how to find out which ruleset you should learn. The 1924 Rules page gives you an example of a British ruleset from the early 1920s, which is a variation of the Classic Chinese version of Mah Jong.
